On the Shoulders of Giants – Steven Hawking

I am not sure why, but I bought On the Shoulders of Giants, by Steven Hawking, with the intention of reading the entire 1280 page volume. I was not able to finish any of the works contained in the anthology.  Not because of their difficulty, but because I found all of them, except Einstein’s boring. This is probably because I grew up reading so many books that already assumed that the planets orbit the sun in ellipses according to Kepler’s laws. All the works are legendary from a historical perspective, since they basically changed the course of science and history. The book is a neat addition to a library collection.

The God Particle – Leon Lederman

Probably my favorite book by Leon LedermanThe God Particle provides a fascinating summary of modern physics accessible to all readers. Anyone interested in understanding the Standard Model should check out this book. In fact, this book should be read by any student beginning a course in physics.

Standard Model:

Symmetry and the Beautiful Universe – Leon Lederman

Anyone interested in modern theories of physics should read Leon Lederman’s book, Symmetry and the Beautiful Universe. In this book Lederman clearly explains how the idea of symmetry has helped physicists understand the universe. Crucial to his explanation is Noether’s Theorem.

Into the Universe with Steven Hawking

Into the Universe with Steven Hawking provides a fascinating look at the provoking ideas of Steven Hawking. From aliens to time travel, it’s worth a view. Watch it on Netflix or Discovery.
